Biography:
Dori is a member of Thorin Oakenshield's company of dwarves in J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, *The Hobbit*. He is one of the thirteen dwarves who journey to the Lonely Mountain to reclaim their treasure from the dragon Smaug.
Dori is noted for being one of the strongest of the dwarves, often carrying Bilbo Baggins on his back during dangerous situations, particularly when escaping from the goblins in the Misty Mountains.
Along with his brothers Nori and Ori, Dori is a descendant of the line of Durin, though not directly in line for the throne. He is typically associated with playing the flute.
He is depicted as being quite helpful and conscientious towards Bilbo. Following the quest to reclaim Erebor, Dori receives his share of the treasure and presumably lives comfortably thereafter.
